Bright Defense is the one other monthly-retainer managed compliance option on the market, which makes it structurally closer to Auditbahn than any platform above. Its entry tier is reported around $1,500/month, but that typically includes only about two hours of expert time, thin for active program management, and it has no EU regulatory coverage (DORA, NIS2, GDPR, EU AI Act). It's a reasonable fit for a US-only company in maintenance mode after certification with very light ongoing needs.
The distinction that actually matters: tool vs. managed
Every platform above automates the same core job: connect to your infrastructure, collect evidence, and show you a dashboard against a framework. That's genuinely useful. None of them decide what to prioritize, fix a failing control, write a questionnaire response, or sit across from your auditor. Someone still has to do that. The question that actually determines which category is right for you is who that someone is.
A platform is the right call if
- You already have a compliance manager, CISO, or equivalent on staff who knows what to do with the findings.
- You want to own your compliance infrastructure directly, including for enterprise customers who want to inspect your tooling.
- Your framework scope is simple and your internal team has bandwidth to run the program.
A managed team is the right call if
- Nobody at the company has compliance as their actual job, and the plan is to keep it that way.
- You need EU regulatory coverage (DORA, NIS2, GDPR) and want one team accountable for all of it.
- Vendor security questionnaires are a regular part of your sales process and are eating real time.
